Privacy Policy

Evenwake is an iPhone and iPad app, with a companion Apple Watch app, made by Rafael Vásquez, an independent developer (“I”, “me”). This page explains, plainly, what happens to your information when you use it.

What stays on your device

Your trips (airports, dates and times, and any important moments or things you want to do that you add), your arrival diary, your answers to the plan questions (for example your usual bedtime, whether you sleep on planes, the hours you can't follow the plan, and whether you use coffee or melatonin), your plans and your settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to me or to anyone else. The plan is calculated on your device. Deleting a trip deletes it; deleting the app deletes everything.

Apple Health (optional)

If you turn it on, Evenwake reads your sleep from recent nights (up to the last 14) and, from Apple Watch, your time in daylight. It only reads: nothing is written to Health. That reading happens only on your device and is used only to suggest your sleep hours, estimate your body clock now, fill in the sleep question of your arrival diary (you can change it), and show the light you got next to the plan and recalculate the plan with it. Health data is never sent to me, never stored in any cloud of mine and never used for advertising. You can turn the permission off at any time in the Health app or in your device's settings.

Calendar and Reminders (optional)

If you tap “Add to Calendar”, the app asks for write-only access: it adds the plan's events to your calendar and can't see your other events. If you tap “Add to Reminders”, iOS asks for full access to Reminders, because that's the only kind Apple offers for reminders; the app uses it only when you tap that button, and only to replace the reminders Evenwake added before, so they aren't duplicated. It never removes or changes any other reminder. Nothing is sent to me.

Sharing a booking email to the app (optional)

If you share an email's text or a PDF to Evenwake, it's saved on your device, the text of the PDF is read on your device, flight numbers are found on your device, and you confirm each one. The text isn't sent anywhere. Only the flight numbers you confirm and choose to look up go to the flight search described below.

Flight-number lookup (optional)

If you type a flight number and search, the app sends that flight number and the date, and nothing else, to a small server I run on Cloudflare (a Cloudflare Worker). That server asks AeroDataBox, a flight-schedule data provider, for the published schedule and sends back the airports and times. AeroDataBox receives only the flight number and date, from Cloudflare: never your IP address or anything about you.

What my server keeps: (1) the flight schedule it found (flight number, airports, times and aircraft type) for up to 7 days, so the same flight can be answered again without a new request; it says nothing about who looked it up. (2) To stop abuse, a count of lookups per hour, stored under a one-way hash of your IP address plus the current hour (not the IP address itself) and deleted automatically after about an hour. There is no account, and nothing is linked to you or to your trips. The server keeps no request logs. Like any network provider, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the request; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

If you don't use the lookup, none of this happens: you can always add your flights by hand.

No analytics, no ads, no tracking

Evenwake contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and makes no network connections of its own apart from the optional flight lookup above. The time-zone and airport data it needs are built into the app.

Alerts and alarms

If you allow notifications, alerts are created and scheduled on your device; the optional wake-up alarm (iOS 26) and the Live Activities are too. There is no push server, and none of this leaves your device.

Widgets, Siri and Apple Watch

The widgets, the Live Activities and Siri's answer to “What should I do now?” read a copy of your plan saved on your device, in space shared only with Evenwake's own extensions. If you use the Evenwake app on Apple Watch, your iPhone sends the plan to your watch with Apple's Watch Connectivity, between your own paired devices; it doesn't go through any server of mine. The watch keeps its copy on the watch, and its optional alerts are scheduled on the watch.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never see your name, email or payment details. The app only asks Apple whether your Apple Account has an active purchase, and which App Store country it uses (to decide whether the optional melatonin question can be shown). Apple's handling of your data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.

Sharing and links

When you share a plan, it goes only where you choose, through the share sheet. Links to sources open in your browser, and those sites have their own privacy policies.

Email

If you write to support@evenwake.com, I receive your email address and your message. I use them only to answer you, and I don't share them with anyone.

Children

Evenwake collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes (for example, if a new feature needs to send data somewhere), I will update this page and its effective date before that version of the app is released.
